What is the use of practicing asanas?
We need to practice asanas to raise the life giving force; prana and consciousness to harmonise body, mind, emotions and subdue the desires for sensory experiences we chase to get a temporary fix.
When the life giving force; prana is stabilised, the breath stops spontaneously; kevala kumbhaka a mindless state; umami arises by itself.
When the mind is quiet and body is fit for prolonged meditation in a seated posture we can be absorbed into complete meditation and individual experience subsides and pure consciousness is experienced.
There are health benefits from this practice as well releasing from blockages in the lower psychic centres, mooladhara and swadhistana chakras in pelvis and abdominal regions where many health problems arise.
Om Shanti
