Kundalini rising

In yoga, we can feel a sense of inner light or brightness. This shows up in how we live—being kind, accepting others, and feeling a deeper sense of joy.

This feeling is connected to something called Kundalini shakti, an inner energy that exists in everyone. It awakens from being dormant in muladhara; (the root chakra) and can rise upward through an inner path; Sushumna to the crown of the head, Sahasrara.

This journey represents growing awareness and connection to our true self.

There are different paths in yoga that help us move toward this:

Hatha Yoga – working with asanas and pranayama for purification.

Raja Yoga – bringing a one pointed focus to mind through meditation.

Jnana Yoga – gaining wisdom through self-inquiry and understanding.

Karma Yoga – acting selflessly without expecting rewards

Bhakti Yoga – opening the heart through love and devotion

All of these paths lead to the same goal: union with our true self, or pure consciousness.

Kundalini energy itself is neutral. It can lead to positive or difficult experiences depending on our state of mind and body. That’s why it’s important  to stay aware of how we feel.

In yoga, we aim to be in a balanced, clear state (called sattva). If we feel too restless and forceful (rajas) or dull and heavy (tamas), it can lead us in the wrong direction.

So the key is to stay present, balanced, and grounded as we deepen our practice.

Om Shanti
