Hatha Yoga is the practice of purification to prepare the body and mind for the royal path, raja yoga (meditation and absorption into universal consciousness, atma.)

When we retain prana (life force) in body, when mind is devoid of thought and gaze is centred between eyebrows, why should there be fear of death. Ref Ch 2 HYP.

Fear only comes with experience of duality, individual aspect is made up in mind, there is no ego.

Bodily processes are drastically altered when mind and prana are totally absorbed giving the experience of oneness.

To retain prana., there are the practices of kumbhakas also known as pranayamas within the Hatha Yoga path.

It is said by practicing kumbhakas wonderous perfections are obtained.

There are 8 Kumbhaka practices - we will use ujjayi this week.

Om Shanti
